Saturday July 14

•   7:30 AM all here except Jerrick

•   Drive to Bird Lake

•   Scouts played chain tag

•   Sawbones forgot Sunday’s breakfast cereal

•   Cam wore his PJ's from when he was 3 yrs old
      (they were rags in the bus)

•   Sawbones bought everyone cold pop

•   Scouts all tried to learn to canoe

•   It down poured  during swimming

•   Water was high so we dived off the park benches
      (they were under   water)

•   Nicole learned to put up tent

•   Andy, Eric, Richard chopped wood for the fire

  Sunday July 15

•   Sawbones makes up breakfast Fruit Cocktail & Cereal

•   Cam needs more canoeing instruction he steers into the
  water falls

•   Our 1^st portage very muddy portage

•   Alex takes a mud bath Sawbones takes a picture

•   We meet some Kayakers they help us on the portage

•   Cam has annoying squeal everyone tells him to stop

•   Wendell looses show in the mud and throws it

•   Alex finds toe clippers

•   3^rd portage really short watch out for the hornet nest

•   Sammi tries to flip canoe by turning sideways in rapids

•   1^st campsite, we find potatoes, socks, towels and 3 steel bowls that were left behind.

•   We ware our muddy clothes into the lake to wash them

•   Sammi brags she has not lost her glasses and won’t continue the Carriere tradition

Monday July 16

•   Yippy NO portages

•   Erik steps on his glasses hope he has insurance

•   Wendell and Jerrick are last out and get the water

•   Wendell “ I’m working here”, “I can’t find my toilet paper”

•   Andy learns how to steer the canoe

•   Wendell tries his hand at steering

•   Easy day we canoe 2 km

•   We have lunch and a swim at Mouse Island

•   We saw a beaver and 2 bald eagles

•   Sawbones makes us all wear our hats

•   Sawbones makes two hats for Shannon & Mark out of tea towels

•   Mark is not impressed with his new hat

•   Richard makes his own turban from a towel no help from Sawbones

•   Campsite is on an island with an outhouse sort of

•   Cam makes door for out house

•   Great swimming place

•   Stephanie finds nest of leaches all over her legs

•   Shannon shows off her diving abilities from diving rock

•   Sammi still has glasses

•   Quenton and Steven loose the most stuff in lost & found

•   Richard & Erik give Nicole a new name “Tree Stump”

Tuesday July 16

•   Sawbones makes everyone eat there grapefruit

•   Mark doesn’t like grapefruit not at all

•   Steven’s grapefruit mysteriously rolls into lake and floats away

•   A paddling day

•   Neat portage and water fall NO MUD

•   Sammi and Cam meet “Cannibal” on portage

•   Cannibal turns out to be a teacher who stops to help us on the portage

•   Mysterious man (Cannibal) jumps in lake after Andy

•   Mysterious man is now the rescue hero

•   Mark rescues Stevens grapefruit if he has to suffer so does everyone else

•   Scary ride out of rapids

•   Shannon ends up eating her grapefruit, turns out she kind-a likes it

•   Leo turns 13 Happy Birthday

•   Sammi looses glass for 5 minutes

•   Cody catches a small fish (bass)

•   Sammi scares Steven telling him the Blair Witch story

•   Alyssa scorns Wendell yes Alyssa

•   Quenton looses his pants  and more

•   Cam finds a whole bunch of junk on the island

•   Cam makes a junk into a campsite and flies his under wear pants

•   Kids are all signing songs

•   Wendell runs out of toilet paper uses moss

•   Erik starts the “Latrine Express” to and from the main land

•   Michel rescues water pump from lake sort of he dropped it into the lake

Wednesday July 17

•   Great morning

•   We see the LARGE snapping turtle

•   Alex falls in lake with water pump new Carriere technique to pumping water

•   Nicole falls down rock trying to mimic Michel's stunt yesterday

•   We are off to Snowshoe lake

•   Another portage we are getting good at this. It is hard but we are good

•   Stephanie & Travis get stuck on a rock

•   Cam panics again as he & Jerrick paddle towards waterfall

•   Cam screams in fear Hawkeye rescues Cam & Jerrick

•   Awesome swimming at lunch stop island

•   We have lunch in Ontario, lots of expensed fuel containers left behind

•   Lunch island is blueberry heaven, wild strawberries and raspberries too

•   Cam finds more treasure broken fishing rods, chairs

•   Erik eats everyone’s leftover KD, Erik gets stuffed finally he is full

•   We see more bald eagles and some loons

•   We head back to the campsite against the wind

•   Sammi freaks out when she realizes she left her moms hat behind at the lunch stop

•   Too bad Sammi we are not going back ( Sawbones has already picked it up for lost & found)

•   Hurricane force winds on McGregor lake

•   Sammi and Shannon are last ones back in wind storm and whitecaps

•   Sawbones sports a new hair do wind blow dried hair

•   Nicole gets tattoos on arm courtesy of the canoe

•   Sammi keeps with the Carriere tradition breaks glasses

•   Baloo and Sawbones make repairs to glasses nice duct tap

•   Full kit inspection for everyone

•   Shannon finds her hat

•   Ida shows off her PINK toiletry bag

•   Steven & Quenton loose more stuff

•   Sawbones creates new consequence for Steven & Quenton Karate Kid stand

•   Some one throws a unopened can of ham into the fire

•   It blows up injuring Sawbones

•   Sawbones is not too happy

Thursday July 18

•   Alex finds leaches in belly button

•   Baloo takes kids fishing useless, I guess we are not having fish for dinner

•   Travis goes to edge of lake and jumps up & down smooth must be a Bonnefoy

•   Jerrick forgets his days food pack on lunch island he & Cam will be hungry

•   Jerrick like swimming ya think

•   Cam, Adam & Leo start eating ants strange but true

•   Stephanie gets sawbones while he taking a nap bucket of water

  •   Look out Stephanie

•   Sammi invents a chair

•   Sammi befriends a spider, on her hand, arm, hat, back

•   Quenton finally changes shirt

•   Sawbones learns three new words from Jerrick and Andy

  •   MUK-WA   or bear

  •   UN-BAIL-MA or come here

  •   WA-WIN or egg

•   Sammi is annoying to everyone (taking over from Cam’s squeal)

•   Cam doesn’t go down the waterfall I think he has got the hang of steering

•   We do an EXCELLENT job on the portage no stopping us now!

•   We see some garter snakes

•   Cam finds a 1-eyed toad

•   We have a blast swimming at Mouse Island

•   The Latrine Express continues to operate

•   A “Racoon” ate the garbage

•   Alex finally dawns a shirt instead of just the mosquito jacket

•   The large turtle returns We won’t swim there

•   Cam tries catching a fish with a pine cone

•   Cam catches a jack fish

•   Sammi opens up the Massage Therapy Clinic

•   Sammi recruits the Bohemier’s

•   Ida finds * loves broken fishing rod

•   Wendell & Andy are not being quiet They take a late night swim courtesy of Sawbones

•   Everyone is now quiet!

•   The “Racoon” returns a night

•   Sawbones hears it panting at night

•   Erik sees something running through the bush whilst taking a pee.

Friday July 19

•   Cameron wakes up camp

•   Leo pays price for Cams noise

•   Andy is last out drip by drip or all at once??

•   Alex gets more leaches

•   We move with lightning speed through the 3 portages

  •   It took us 3hrs the 1^st day and 1 hour today
     

•   Sammi & Shannon gobble their food

•   Wendell gets canoe in the head what are you blind or something?

•   More snapping turtles

•   Sawbones is up to his old splashing trick I think he has got just about everyone

•   We see the bald eagles again

•   Adam steers canoe across windy lake panics a bit in rough water

•   Ida & David see a loon up close

•   Travis starts singing “ I won’t be moved”

•   We make it back to Tulabi falls

•   Swimming at the beach, water has fallen about a foot since Saturday

•   Water is great, its 36 degrees Celsius today

•   Travis finds toy fish

•   A gazillion frogs are on the beach

•   Park Police come to arrest Andy just kidding they are here to tell us something

•   Has anyone seen Richard & Erik they went to get water an hour ago

•   We set up camp one last time

•   Cam can’t find his way back to camp

•   Sawbones bust Travis & Stephanie with their dirt pot how many days of burnt food do they really have?

•   We have a camp fire

•   Shannon sings songs from her dads band

•   Shannon teaches us some songs

•   Cam, Travis & Michel sing ?????

•   Travis has the moves shake that booty

•   Steven sings a Garth Brooks song solo

•   Ida, Stephanie & Sammi make a song about the cam eating ants

•   Sawbones, Erik and Travis sign the “Umbrella Too” song
   

•   What a GREAT day !

Saturday July 20

•   Rise and shine it is our last day

•   Erik gets lost trying to find Baloo and Hawkeye
   

•   CANOE WARS what a blast

•   Sawbones goes down saluting with his ship

•   Hawkeye sinks first

•   Erik & Richard sink second

•   Baloo and Sawbones battle out

•   Wendell bail the water out not in!

•   Sawbones wins!
   

•   All packed up and ready to go Hawkeye’s truck doesn’t start!

•   After 1 hour it’s the immobilizer just activate it !!!

•   We stop an Bird Lake Camp ground for free hot dogs and meet the park rangers

•   We meet Smokie the Bear

•   We take turns spraying the fire hose thanks to the forest fire fighters

•   We are on the road home

•   Stop in Lac Du Bonnet for Ice cream thanks Sawbones

•   Hawkeye's truck is billowing smoke Take it out of Overdrive

•   We are home full of stories and glad to see our parents
